David Sabatini is David Ross Boyd Professor and Sun Oil Company Chair of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science at OU.  He is currently Director of the Water Technologies for Emerging Regions (WaTER) Center and Associate Director of the Institute for Applied Surfactant Reseach.  His research focuses on sustainable drinking water systems for the U.S. and developing countries, understanding / characterizing subsurface contaminant transport and remediation and surfactant-based environmental and biofuel technologies.

Originally from Jacksonville, IL, Dave has been at OU since January of 1989 and has been married to Frances since August of 1984.  His son Caleb is an OU graduate in industrial engineering and his daughter Peggy is an OU graduate in journalism.  Dave enjoys spending time with his family, which has expanded to include two spouses and a grandson.  Dave enjoys travel, both internationally and on his Bianchi bicycle.  He also enjoys learning from the life and example of Abraham Lincoln, having read over 170 books about Lincoln.  Dave and Frances are long time members of Wildwood Community Church, where he has taught college and adult Bible classes over the years.
