Background

Caleb Slinkard was born in College Station, Texas, to Gary and Susan Slinkard along with his twin brother, Joshua, and his younger brother, Nathan. He was raised in the DFW metroplex and attended Texas A&M University-Commerce in Commerce, Texas. While at A&M-Commerce he participated in the University Honors College, was editor of the school paper “The East Texan,” and produced a radio and television show.

While in college, he was hired by the Greenville Herald-Banner as a design intern, and over the years was promoted to reporter, then weekly editor, and finally editor of the Herald-Banner. He was in charge of the editorial content of the daily Herald-Banner, as well as three weekly papers.

In August of 2015, Slinkard was hired by the Herald-Banner’s sister paper, the Norman Transcript, to replace long-time editor Andy Rieger, who had retired. He is a member of Leadership Norman 2017, the Salvation Army advisory board and the Norman Rotary Club. He’s an avid reader, coffee drinker and Dallas Mavericks basketball fan, and is proud to call Norman home.
