Attorney General Hunter was appointed on February 20, 2017, to succeed Scott Pruitt. Hunter previously served as secretary of state and special legal counsel to the Governor Fallin from October 2016 until his appointment as Attorney General.

He served as Secretary of State under Governor Frank Keating as well as in state postings as First Assistant Attorney General, Secretary of the Commissioners of the Land Office, and General Counsel of the Corporation Commission.  He also served three terms in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Hunter’s private sector career includes time as an energy and real property lawyer and management roles in Washington, DC at the American Council of Life Insurer and the American Bankers Association, serving as chief operating officer for both organizations.

Hunter received his law degree from the University of Oklahoma and his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University.
